"Be a fast food detective and you'll go far, look on every menu, every box, and each jar," sang the children of Ms Pavlounis' Year 5 class on Friday 29th January. • Horsey, Horsey, Horsey

"Horsey, horsey, don't you stop; just let your feet go clippety clop!" So goes the song, and on Friday 29th January that was just what our little cherubs in Foundation Stages 1 & 2 were very happy to do. They visited the Antoniadou Stables near Keratea for a fun-packed day during which they met all the farm animals that live there and learned about their habitats in and around the stables.  Read more...

• All the World's a Stage

Well, some may say the whole world is but a stage, others may say it's not, but everyone who attended the theatre visit on Wednesday, 20th January, would surely agree that the stage in front of them was as full of life as any scene they'd ever encountered. • Pet Day

On Friday the 22nd of January the Early Years' children enjoyed a tremendous Pet Day at school. Many children brought in their pets from home to "show and tell" to their friends. All in all, an adorable little rabbit ,a sweet tortoise and two exceptionally well-behaved dogs came along to visit us.  Read more...


• BOO! Scared You!

On Monday 11th January 2016 the Reception classes attended the creative workshop titled “Hello Mr Fear” at The Emotions Museum in the centre of Athens. This trip linked in with their ‘Dinosaurs’ topic and really brought their learning to life. Read more...


• Year 5 go Olive Picking

In Year 5's Greek History class during the latter part of the first term, the children were taught about the myth of how the city of Athens came to have its name, which led them to their own adventures in picking olives Read more...


• End of Term Treat for Year 6

On the very last day of term, Tuesday 22nd December, instead of a class party, Year Six was treated to a special trip purely for fun and enjoyment. Off they went to Blanos Sports Park in Spata where the children played 10-pin bowling in teams of classmates and friends. Read more...


•Paradise Park Fun & Games

On Tuesday 15th December, Year 3 took a trip to Paradise Park in Aharnes as a Christmas treat for the end of term.  They played party games and met Rudolph with some of his animal friends such as geese and goats. Read more...

On Friday, 11th December, there was great excitement for our youngest pupils as they took to the stage for their biggest show of the year: the Christmas Show in all its glory! Read more...


• Charity continues, even on the last day

As our pupils gathered in the Cultural Hall for the Annual Quiz and Talent Show followed by the traditional Christmas concert, representatives from the Soup Kitchen in Anavyssos and the SOS Children’s Village in Vari came to our school to collect pieces of clothing, food and toys for children and families in need. • Spreading Christmas Cheer

On Friday, 18th December, Ms Panou's choir children tootled off to the Grand Care Nursing Home in Lagonissi, Attiki, to entertain the residents by singing again their wonderful selection of carols old and new. • Hark! The Tuneful Pupils Sing

• Year 1 Out and About in Athens

The Industrial Gas Museum in Gazi, central Athens, was the destination for pupils and teachers of Year 1 on Wednesday, 16th December. The children had the opportunity to learn about how gas was used in the old days, to generate light for a whole city. Read more...

• Busy Times at the Bazaar

Friday 4th December saw our annual Bazaar held in its usual lively manner in the gymnasium at school all day long. Pupils and parents alike came along to soak up a bit of pre-Christmas atmosphere and to buy some gifts and treats from some of the beautiful variety of stalls there. Read more...

• MUN success for St. Lawrence College

From Friday 11th until Sunday 13th December sixteen St. Lawrence College pupils took part in the Costeas-Geitonas Model United Nations (CGS-MUN) assembly, acting as representatives of Austria and Burkina Faso in various committees. On Tuesday, 2nd December, Year 4 took a trip to Vranova to visit the Archaeological site and Museum of the goddess Artemis, as part of their Greek History program. They saw various exhibits of ancient toys and statues, dating as far back as the 4th century BC. Read more...


• Empathy - humankind's greatest quality

On a rainy Friday afternoon in late November, Ms Roumanas' Year 4 class gave us a beautiful and thought-provoking assembly on the important subject of Empathy. The subject was simply and clearly explained for all those watching to fully comprehend exactly what empathy is, and short scenes of actions that were - or were not - empathic were relayed to us.   Read more...

• Fire, Fire! Year 1 to the Rescue!

On Thursday 12th November, Year 1 visited the Fire Station at Ellinikon to take a closer look at a fire station and see how the fire fighters there do their job. The staff at the station were extremely helpful and friendly towards the children, engaging them in conversations about the equipment and explaining what their job entails.   Read more...


• Remembrance Day

At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918 the Great War officially came to an end. The children of our school this year once again wore their poppies from the British Legion with pride, and they took part in a solemn minute's silence during the school day.  Read more...


• Compassion is the Name of the Game

On Friday 6th November, Ms Veroutsos' Year 3 class held the first assembly of the year in Key Stage 2. The theme was 'Compassion' and the children made us all take a look at how we act towards others, particularly when we are here at school. The need for kindness and consideration should be a priority in life, but can be all too easily forgotten in our busy, action-filled days.  Read more...


• St Lawrence Showcases Rugby Skills

On Saturday 14th November, students from St Lawrence College were invited by the British Embassy to a Rugby event held at Haidari Football Stadium in Athens. The event included a mini-tournament, training and an opportunity to watch a demonstration by the Greek Rugby Team.  Read more...

The Turtle Rescue Centre in Glyfada is a place where help is given to the threatened species of turtles which so perilously share our seas. On Friday 6th November, a beautiful autumn day, the Early Years classes visited the Cultural Park in Keratea.

On Wednesday 28th October, the Greek national day was celebrated with pride in St Lawrence College. The day commemorates the rejection, during the Second World War of an ultimatum made by Benito Mussolini to allow Axis forces to enter Greece. Read more...

Magna Carta has arrived at St. Lawrence College! As part of a world tour celebrating 800 years since the original document was signed, this exact facsimile of the original Magna Carta is on display at the entrance of the senior school accompanied by pupils' work and information displays produced by The British Library.  Read more...


• F.S. 2 Trip to Keratea

On Friday October 2nd, Foundation stage two had a delightful educational experience at the ‘Cultural Park’ In Keratea. They actively participated in the harvesting and treading of grapes which was followed by a child friendly explanation and demonstration of fermentation and finally the bottling of wine.  Read more...

On Monday 12th October a facsimile copy of Magna Carta will arrive at St. Lawrence College as part of its world tour to mark the 800-year anniversary of this celebrated document, so central to the history of Britain.  Read more...


• Model Diplomacy at the M.U.N

Over the weekend of 3rd/4th October ten St. Lawrence College pupils from years 10 and 11 took part in the 3rd Junior Campion School M.U.N. (Model United Nations). • A Record Number “Race for the Cure”

On Sunday 28th September the annual ‘Race for the Cure’ event was held in central Athens and once again pupils, parents and staff from St. Lawrence College showed themselves to be very willing to contribute in every sense to this fun, yet extremely important day. • SLC helps refugees through TaxiBeat

The appeal for help only went out a few days ago, but SLC staff, pupils and their families have responded to an extraordinary degree and have ensured the delivery of a huge amount of desperately needed supplies to a refugee distribution centre here in Athens. From that point, those supplies will now be sent on their way to refugees throughout a number of Greek islands. Read more...


• Sixth Form Investigate Zakynthos

Seven Upper Sixth Biologists and nine Lower Sixth Geographers went to Zakynthos over the weekend with Mr Macklin, Ms Koutakis and Ms Walters. The Biologists spent the first two days carrying out studies on a rocky shore and on rocky reefs in the sea while the Geographers carried out a coastal erosion study on Argassi beach. Read more...

• EXAM SUCCESS FOR THE PUPILS OF ST. LAWRENCE COLLEGE

The anxious wait is over and those pupils who took public examinations at the end of the school year have got their results! Pupils finishing Year 11 took IGCSEs, and older pupils took AS-Levels and A-Levels. For those finishing school, the A-Levels dictate whether they will progress to university so naturally the wait has had heightened importance. Read more...
