The position
St. Lawrence College, Athens, Greece is currently seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced teacher of Biology, Chemistry and Science to join our science departments in our senior school for the entirety of the 2023-2024 school year, covering the maternity leave of a colleague.
Brief Job Description
Alongside supportive colleagues, the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching Biology and Chemistry to pupils in Key Stage 4 (IGCSE) and Science to pupils in Key Stage 3 for the entirety of the 2023-2024 school year. He or she will work closely with the current Head of Department in all areas of the planning and delivery of these subjects, including strengthening the schemes of work, creating and sourcing teaching aids, developing and implementing assessment tasks, and engaging all pupils in the attainment of science skills and knowledge.
St. Lawrence College places great importance on the excellence of the delivery of pastoral care and on the provision of extracurricular activities for all pupils. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to these vital spheres of British education fully and with enthusiasm.
Brief Person Specification
In addition to appropriate teaching qualifications and, preferably, experience teaching sciences in a British school either in the UK or overseas, the successful applicant will possess outstanding subject knowledge, excellent communication skills and the stamina to realise the continual improvement of the teaching of this very important and popular subject area.
The successful applicant will be available to work from 1st September 2023.
Remuneration
Our new teacher of sciences will receive a competitive salary by standards of British education in Greece plus additional benefits. The successful applicant will work alongside friendly and supportive colleagues across our 20-acre school campus set in the stunning natural surroundings of the suburbs in southern Athens. A relocation package is available to new colleagues recruited from outside Greece.
