This year’s annual running events brought an incredible display of determination, teamwork, and athletic talent from our KS3 pupils. After weeks of hard training, every athlete stepped onto the track ready to give their very best. The finals were filled with energy, enthusiasm, and impressive performances across all year groups.

We are especially proud to celebrate two new school records, both achieved in the 150m event. In Year 8, Angelos set a new record with an excellent time of 21.20 seconds, while in Year 9, Alexandros followed with another remarkable achievement, breaking the school record with a time of 21.00 seconds.

We extend our warmest congratulations to all KS3 athletes who took part. Whether setting records, achieving personal bests, or supporting teammates, each pupil contributed to a memorable and inspiring event. Their effort and sportsmanship continue to make our school community proud.

Our school proudly hosted the annual Under-16 Boys’ Football and Under-16 Girls’ Volleyball tournaments on November 11th, with six schools participating in each event.

After an exciting day of competition, both of our teams advanced to the finals, having won all their group-stage matches. In the final, they faced strong opponents and, despite their best efforts, narrowly missed out on first place.

We are extremely proud of both teams for earning silver medals and second-place trophies. Their hard work, sportsmanship, and team spirit were truly inspiring.

Finally, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the coaches, Mr. Strzemiecki and Ms. Dikaioulia, for their outstanding guidance and dedication to their teams.

From Monday, 2nd June to Friday, 6th June, our school pool was the scene of excitement, determination, and team spirit as we celebrated our annual swimming events.
Pupils from Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 dove into action with individual races in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. They also teamed up for thrilling freestyle and medley relays, competing with enthusiasm to earn valuable house points for their teams.
In Years 1 and 2, Swimming Day was a resounding success. It was a joy to witness the confidence and progress of our youngest swimmers as they showcased the skills they’ve been developing throughout the year.
A special congratulations goes to all our swimmers for their hard work and sportsmanship. And an extra round of applause to Anais in Year 6, who made waves by setting two new school records in the 25m freestyle and 25m backstroke events — an incredible achievement!
Well done, everyone, for an inspiring week in the pool!

On Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st May, the annual KS3 swimming galas took place, bringing together Year 7, 8, and 9 pupils for two exciting days of competition and team spirit. Our pupils gave their all, proudly representing their houses in a series of competitive and spirited swimming races.
The final results were impressively close, reflecting the determination and enthusiasm of all participants:
•    3rd Place: Epirus – 530 points
•    2nd Place: Macedonia – 550 points
•    1st Place: Attica – 680 points
A huge well done to everyone who took part and contributed to their house’s performance!
A special congratulations goes to Melina (Year 9), who made school history by setting a new record in the 25m breaststroke for Year 9 girls with an outstanding time of 18.22 seconds. This breaks the previous record of 19.71 seconds, which had stood since 2013—an incredible achievement!
Well done to all swimmers for your hard work, sportsmanship, and energy.
 

On Thursday, April 3rd, our Under 16 boys' and girls' football teams participated in a tournament hosted by St. Catherine's School, with five schools taking part.

The boys started the day with a narrow 1-0 loss in their first match but quickly bounced back, winning all three of their remaining games. As a result, they finished in second place and were awarded a trophy and medals for their outstanding effort. Whereas the girls played four matches, drawing two and narrowly losing two.  

All team members enjoyed the experience and are eager to participate in future tournaments. A big congratulations to everyone for demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, and a special thanks to the coaches Mr. Strzemiecki and Mr. Styliatis for their hard work with their respective teams.
 

On Tuesday 4th  and Thursday 6th February, our school proudly hosted annual mini-basketball tournaments for Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. These two action-packed days brought together more than 150 enthusiastic players, all eager to display their basketball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. A total of seven schools participated in these thrilling events, making for an atmosphere filled with energy, competition, and cheers from supporters. The level of play was truly commendable, with players showing remarkable determination, quick passes, and impressive shots. The courts were alive with excitement as young athletes dribbled, defended, and aimed for baskets, embodying the spirit of the game. Teachers, coaches, and supporters were all delighted with the high standard of play and the enthusiasm displayed by every participant.

A heartfelt congratulations to all our young basketball players who proudly represented St Lawrence College. Your dedication and effort were truly inspiring! 
 

On Tuesday, 26th, and Thursday, 28th November, our school proudly hosted an energetic and vibrant two-day mini-football tournament which welcomed over 300 young footballers from Years 5 and 6, representing our school and four other international schools. Both boys and girls took to the pitch with a shared aim: to enjoy the game and celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship.

The school grounds buzzed with excitement as teams demonstrated their skills, teamwork, and determination. Each match highlighted the players’ enthusiasm and love for football, showing that the sport is more than just a game—it is a medium for connection, learning, and growth. With every goal scored and every save made, the young athletes embodied the core values of resilience and camaraderie. Players from different schools built new friendships, cheering each other on and proving the power of sport to unite people from diverse backgrounds.

Congratulations to all the young footballers for their outstanding performances! This tournament was not only a display of talent but also a celebration of the joy and values that sport brings to our lives. A heartfelt well done to everyone involved—we look forward to hosting many more such events in the future!

On Thursday, 21st November, our school hosted the Boys Under-16 Volleyball Tournament, while our Under-16 Girls Football Team participated in the tournament at St. Catherine's.

The girls had an outstanding performance, winning all three of their matches with an impressive 6 goals scored and only 2 conceded. Their hard work paid off as they were thrilled to receive gold medals and the 1st place trophy after a long, challenging day of matches.

The boys also gave a commendable effort, winning one game and narrowly losing two. All their matches were highly competitive, with each going to a deciding 3rd set. Ultimately, the boys secured 3rd place and are eagerly looking forward to their next competition.

Congratulations to all the players for their dedication and sportsmanship, and a big thank you to the coaches, Ms. Dikaioulia and Mr. Styliatis, for their guidance and support.

On Monday 3^rd April, the annual running events for years 1 to 6 were held here at St Lawrence College Junior School. All children came excited to represent their respective houses - Attica, Epirus and Macedonia. Parents were in attendance, not only cheering on their children, but participating in the parents' races as well. They enjoyed themselves as much as the pupils for sure! The children relished a day in the sports field where they cheered for their team-mates and competed for the 40 or so medals being awarded to our young runners. 

Well done to all those who participated and thank you to everyone who came and helped create an electrifying atmosphere. 

On Monday the 27^th of March St Lawrence College happily hosted the Annual 3 V 3 Basketball Tournament for the children of Year 5.  

Four schools took part (St. Lawrence College, St. Catherines, DES and Verita) with a total of 130 boys and girls! An incredible total of seventy seven mini matches took place. The success of the tournament could be seen on the smiles of all those participating and cheering from the stands. 

Well done to all the pupils for playing so keenly and displaying excellent sportsmanship in every match. A special thank you to all the parents and pupils who came along and cheered for their respective teams, helping to create a wonderful atmosphere. 

On Friday 30^th September, Year 6 took part in an active PE based trip to the Mesogeia Track & Field Festival – an event packed with sports fun at a venue in Spata, Attiki. The children saw a theatre show about the first Olympic Games, learned about recycling and participated in a number of energetic activities including the children's favourite – survivor games!

On the pleasantly warm evening of Friday 17^th June 2022, we held our 42^nd Annual Awards Ceremony for pupils of the junior and senior schools. Our Guest of Honour was Mr Matthew Lodge, the British Ambassador to Greece since August 2021, who spoke of the importance of savouring every moment of the journey towards reaching life goals – a valid point for these challenging times that we live in.

The pupils proudly received their awards for academic excellence, for effort, progress, sportsmanship, and overall contributions to school life, in front of their families, friends and staff. Our graduating pupils in Year 13 were in high spirits as their prospective paths in life were announced by our Headmaster, Mr Holden. The mood was uplifting and there were smiles all around as everyone of us appreciated being able once more to participate in this special event on such a grand scale after a hiatus of several years through the pandemic. A fine reception with delicious foods and drinks was enjoyed by guests afterwards.

Every summer, for one month, St. Lawrence runs a highly successful, action-packed, fun-filled summer programme suited to children aged from three to fourteen. Yet again this year, SLC is the place to be as we are busy preparing a productive and enjoyable course of activities for your children in June and July.

As always, we wait with much excitement to welcome back old faces and meet new ones, too. It is satisfying to renew old friendships and initiate new ones in such a positive, stimulating environment! We guarantee a special experience for our pupils, as we offer optimum learning and superb sports facilities on our spacious campus.

Here at St Lawrence College, there is everything on offer - from exceptional tuition in English language to sport, dance, drama, chess, recycled art, 3D paper architecture art, robotics, yoga, field games, mini golf, roller skating, crafts and many more activities.

Despite this year's changes, selection of the 2020-2021 the St Lawrence College House Captains is complete and we're delighted to have some extremely hardworking, determined and mature young people representing the PE department. Being a House Captain is an extremely important role in our community and once again our pupils will be working diligently to organise events, support charities and take part in some of our extremely succesful sports teams. Both St Lawrence boys' and girls' under-16 basketball teams competed in tournaments last week.  Six international schools participated from all around Athens, putting on an impressive dispolay of skill and sportsmanship. 

Though our girls played very well, this time they did not leave with medals. The boys however qualified all the way through to the end where, after a tightly-fought game, they took a very respetable 2^nd place, losing only to ACS in the final.
