SLC marked World Book Day on Thursday 5th March with a joyful celebration of reading across both the junior and senior schools. Pupils took part in a range of fun events and competitions designed to highlight the excitement and creativity that books inspire.
The school was filled with fantastic costumes, from the Lorax and Angelina Ballerina to Goth Girl and Luna Lovegood. Classes also enjoyed a scavenger hunt around the school, finding and identifying well‑known book characters hidden in different locations. Some groups were treated to special visitors who dropped in to read stories, while Years 5 and 6 even welcomed senior school pupils who came to share and talk about books they love.
A book‑cover competition encouraged students to showcase their artistic talents, producing imaginative interpretations of favourite stories. We also received an impressive number of entries for the Get Caught Reading challenge. These are sure to bring plenty of smiles thanks to the inventive reading spots captured.
Thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support in nurturing a love of reading within our school community.
