Year 7 Residential Trip to Ioannina: A Journey to Remember

From Thursday 22nd to Saturday 24th May, our Year 7 pupils embarked on an unforgettable residential trip to Ioannina, filled with adventure, exploration, and lasting memories.
The journey began with a visit to the picturesque town of Ioannina and a boat ride to the charming island of Kyra Frosyni, nestled in the middle of Lake Pamvotis.
The next day we went rafting along the crystal-clear waters of the Voidomatis River, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Vikos–Aoös National Park. Pupils showed excellent teamwork and enthusiasm as they paddled through the gentle rapids, guided by expert instructors. Straight after we hiked the stunning Vikos Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world.
Our trip concluded with a fascinating exploration of the Perama Cave, a natural wonder filled with impressive stalactites and stalagmites. Pupils were captivated by the cave’s unique formations and the rich history shared by our guide.
Throughout the trip, our pupils demonstrated exceptional behaviour and enthusiasm. It was a joy to see them fully engaged, supporting one another, and making the most of every moment. Their curiosity, respect, and positive spirit turned this trip into an experience none of us will forget.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all the staff who made this journey possible, to Trekking Hellas for their professionalism and outstanding organisation of the activities, and most of all to the pupils—whose positivity and spirit made this adventure truly unforgettable.

The Beekeeping Academy

On Friday 16th May, the wonderful founders of the Beekeeping Academy in Athens paid us a visit. They brought along some little buzzing friends to show the children what they do best – making honey as they pollinate the plants in our environment.

We all know that bees need protecting now more than ever, so it is a vital lesson to learn, that bees are our friends not pests. Children have to be educated about the important role that bees play in the world and learning as they examine the parts of the hives in the apiary, spinning the frames to extract honey, is all part of the process. Tasting the delicious product at the end too was an extra treat!

Fashion Through the Ages

Year 2 had a blast on Friday 16th May when they held their fantastic Fashion Show which saw them catwalk with style. The guest of honour, Ms Chrousala, a former highly successful fashion model herself, answered the children's questions about working in the fashion industry and even showed the children how to strut along the catwalk with style.

The children's costumes highlighted their learning about fashion through the ages, and they thoroughly enjoyed showing off their confident walking, in front of an audience of their peers. Even the teachers joined in! What fun!

St. Lawrence Shines at 9th No Finish Line Athens Festival

On Thursday 8th May and Friday 9th May, years 4 and 5 from the Junior School and Year 9 from the Senior School attended the annual event, ‘No Finish Line’, the longest and biggest charity race worldwide at the ‘Calatrava Agora’ of the Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens (OAKA).

Those taking part are encouraged to walk or run the longest distance that they can, regardless of their technique, style or rhythm. The event which is organised and dedicated to support the association ‘Together for Children’, raises funds and contributes, on an annual basis, to the implementation of programmes for the benefit of 30,000 children in need. For every kilometre covered by each participant, the sponsors donate €1 to charity.

Our pupils did us proud, managing to clock up a total of 2,180 laps, covering a total of 2,098 km altogether! All for a noble cause supporting children in need.  The school’s exceptional effort earned 2nd place among participating schools and 8th place overall in the combined schools and companies' category.

Well done, St. Lawrence walkers, for another inspiring effort!
